Mini Space v1.0.0
Mini Space is a spiritual sequel to my PICO-8 shmup Space 8, rebuilt from the ground up in Godot. Everything from Space 8 is here — plus expanded mechanics, new visuals, and a proper progression system.
What's In This Release:
- Classic vertical scrolling shoot-em-up with tight arcade feel
- Asteroids (3 sizes × 3 hardness levels), comets (5 colors with unique powerup drops), enemies that shoot back, and black holes with real gravity physics
- Energy-based shield system with drain, recharge, and cooldown
- Station hub between missions with a shop — upgrade fire rate, add gun barrels, expand hull, unlock shields, and repair damage
- Procedurally generated mission names and escalating difficulty across rounds
- Persistent highscores across 3 difficulty modes (Easy, Normal, Veteran)
- 5 collectible powerups: hull repair, shield charges, rapid fire, magnet aura, and screen-clearing bombs
- Full controller support with animated button icons throughout every menu
- In-game help pages covering controls, obstacles, the shop, and gameplay tips
Controls:
- Move: Arrow Keys / WASD (or D-Pad / Left Stick)
- Shoot: Space / Enter (or A / Cross)
- Shield: Tab (or RT / R2 / ZR)
- Pause: Esc (or Start / Menu)
